Episode 09: Vivian and Meghan – living with Dravet Syndrome

Episode 09 transcript.

Meghan and her husband Brian never thought they would be moving almost 2,000 miles across the United States for their daughter to be treated with medical marijuana.

But when their baby daughter, Vivian started having seizures due to Dravet Syndrome, and standard pharmaceuticals weren’t working, that’s exactly what they had to.

This episode looks at the months leading up to that decision, the work they did to try to change things in New Jersey, and what a difference the move has made to the whole family.

In light of the situation in NZ and how far we have to go to get to anywhere near even New Jersey, I think this was a really important episode to do. Thank you so much, Meghan for being part of the show.

This is a powerful episode. Meghan tells the story very well. Great wrap up and polemic to finish this moving case, Tessa. I hope the politicians get to hear it. You should send the podcast to Dunne and Key.

Oh my gosh I can’t even imagine what it would be watching my child have a seizure for up to an hour! They sound like a very strong couple for surviving, and I am so sorry that nobody knew what was going on for such a long time. Meghan sounds like an amazing mother for going through what she has gone through! Thank you so much for sharing with #StayClassy!
