Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I’m feeling a bit emotional today, in the best possible way. And I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has supported me  and read my posts, listened to the podcast and voted for me when I nagged at you to do so.

I asked you all recently to vote for me in the Mumsnet Blogging Awards. I was in the top 8 for the “Best Writer” category and I needed your votes to get through to the top three. The top three are then judged to find the winner. I didn’t think I had a great chance because while I have been blogging for almost three years, there are some Parenting bloggers out there who have huge followings and I didn’t think I could compete with that. But I heard this week that I’m through to the final three! So thank you everyone who voted and shared my posts and encouraged their friends and family to vote. It worked! The winner gets announced on November 12 at the Mumsnet Blogfest in London, so sadly I won’t be attending but a good friend who lives in London is going to go on my behalf.

Whatever happens on the night, getting to the final three has been so amazing and I am honoured and humbled that your votes got me there. So thank you!

I’m off today to Auckland for the AMP Scholarships where I am a finalist. There are 12 of us, but only the People’s Choice winner has been announced publicly.

It’s fair to say my emotions are all over the place. I’m feeling grateful and happy, and all the while thinking of Eva and how amazing it would be if she was coming to these awards with me tonight. She’s my inspiration. My driving force. She deserved to be on this journey with me, instead of joining me in my memory.

You so deserve all of this recognition and encouragement. Eva can’t be here but you represent her indominatable spirit so well.

It’s been a privilege to have been allowed to follow your journey and to have known Eva. She is never far from my thoughts, even today.

We are delighted, but in no way surprised, with your success. Few people have the mastery of thought, insight and word that you do.

    A genuine inspiration.
